Size chart – varsity jacket
This varsity jacket size chart lists EKVAAR’s measurements from XS to 3XL, in inches, including shoulder and sleeve length.

How to read the varsity jacket size chart
All four numbers come from the finished varsity jacket. Chest is the full distance around it, so double a flat measurement across the front. Length runs from the highest point of the shoulder to the bottom hem, shoulder runs from seam to seam across the back, and sleeve length runs from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff.
Each step adds 2 inches of chest and 1 inch each of length, shoulder and sleeve. A medium varsity jacket measures 42 inches around the chest, 27 inches long, 19 inches across the shoulder and 23.5 inches down the sleeve.

Room for layers
The fit note says this is a regular varsity fit, designed for layering. Our own charts show how much room that leaves. A medium regular T-shirt measures 40 inches around the chest, so a medium varsity jacket gives you 2 inches more over a tee. A medium in our hoodie & sweatshirt chart measures 42 inches, the same as the jacket, so a hoodie underneath will be snug. If you plan to wear a sweatshirt or hoodie under your varsity jacket, compare both sizes before you choose.

Getting the sleeve right
Sleeve length is the number people most often miss. Measure a varsity jacket or similar jacket you like from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff with the arm laid flat. The chart moves from 21.5 inches in XS to 27.5 inches in 3XL, an inch a size, so if your arms are long for your chest size, the sleeve may decide your size rather than the chest.
Measure a jacket you already own
- Close it and lay it flat on a table.
- Chest: measure across, just below the armholes, and double the number.
- Length: measure from the highest point of the shoulder down to the hem.
- Shoulder: measure from seam to seam across the back.
- Sleeve: measure from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff.

Choosing between two sizes
Measurements may vary by ±0.5 inch. If you are between sizes, think about what goes underneath: a T-shirt leaves room in the smaller size, while a sweatshirt needs the larger one. Fit varies by piece, so check the length and shoulder too rather than following a fixed rule. The history of the style is covered in the letterman jacket article on Wikipedia.
