What made to order means, in one answer
Made to order means your piece is made after you reserve it, not before. Nothing is produced on a guess and left in a warehouse. At EKVAAR, each piece is made for you once you reserve it, and delivery is free across India. The trade is a short wait in return for no deadstock, no overproduction and a piece made for you.

How a made-to-order reservation works
The steps are short, and none of them is hidden.
- You choose. Pick a piece, a colour and a size. Every product page lists its fabric and fit.
- You reserve. This is the moment that starts the piece. Until then, it does not exist as a finished garment.
- It is made. The piece is made in India for your reservation.
- It reaches you. Shipping is free across India.
That is the whole flow. There is no season to catch. If a piece is on the shop, you can reserve it.
Why we make clothes this way
Most clothing is made before anyone has asked for it. A brand guesses how many of each size and colour it will sell, makes them all, and hopes. When the guess is wrong, the leftover stock is sold off cheap or stored. That leftover is called deadstock, and making too much in the first place is called overproduction. Making only after a customer asks is the made to order model, also called build to order.
Made to order removes the guess. We make what is reserved. So there is no pile of unsold pieces, and no reason to run a clearance to shift them. It is also part of how we keep the range small and permanent. If you want to see how that fits together, read what all-time fashion is.
There is a second reason, and it is about care. When each piece is made for a reservation, it is easier to keep the standard high. The ORIGINAL Hoodie is a 300 GSM brushed cotton fleece hoodie with a lined hood and a front pouch pocket. That is a specific thing to make well, one order at a time.

Made to order vs ready to ship
| Ready to ship | Made to order | |
|---|---|---|
| When it is made | Before you ask | After you reserve |
| Wait | Days or less | A short wait while your piece is made for you |
| Unsold stock | Common | None by design |
| Range | Limited to what was made | Whatever is on the shop |
| Best for | Needing it this week | Choosing what you will keep |
Ready to ship is faster, and that is a real advantage. If you need something for tomorrow, made to order is not the right route, and we would rather say so. If you are choosing a piece you will wear for years, a short wait costs very little.
Is it worth the wait?
Ask what the wait buys. Three things, mainly.
You get the colour and size you chose
Because nothing is pre-made in bulk, you are not limited to whatever sizes happened to be left. The CORE Crew Tee comes in all six house colours: Noor Black, Rui White, Agni Red, Neel Blue, Arav Green and Gulabi Pink. Reserve the one you want.
You are not paying for waste
When a brand overproduces, the cost of the unsold clothes is built into the prices of the ones that sell. Making to order takes that cost out of the equation. We do not claim it makes clothes cheaper. We do say it makes the price honest.
You buy with a clearer head
A short wait is a small pause. It is enough to ask whether you still want the piece by the time it arrives. Most of the time you do, and that is a good sign that it belongs in your wardrobe. That pause also works in your favour on price. Work out the cost per wear before you reserve, and the answer usually becomes clear.

What made to order is not
It is not custom tailoring. You are not sending measurements or choosing a fabric. The design, fabric and cut are set, and what you choose is the colour and size. It is also not a promise that everything is instant. It is a plain trade: a short wait for a range with no leftover stock.
And it is not a reason to buy more. If anything, the opposite. Because each piece has to be reserved, you decide on purpose. Buying on purpose and wearing what you buy is what the whole House is built around.
Which pieces are made to order?
The whole range is made when you reserve it. That includes everyday Solids like the CORE Crew Tee at ₹749 and the ORIGINAL Hoodie at ₹1,299, and Luxe pieces like the ESSENCE Terry Tee at ₹2,099, a 260 GSM terry tee in 90% cotton. Origins pieces, such as the Signature Cap at ₹599, follow the same rule.
Some pieces are made in even smaller numbers. The Monogram Oversized Hoodie at ₹1,799 was produced in a micro-run of just 12 pieces. If a piece is limited, the product page says so.

Tips for ordering made to order clothes
- Order a little early. If you want something for a trip or an event, reserve well ahead so there is always room to spare.
- Check the size guide. Each product page has one. If you are between sizes, think about how you want the piece to fit: closer to the body, or looser. An oversized cut like the FORM Oversized Tee is made to sit loose, with dropped shoulders and extended length.
- Read the fabric line. GSM and blend tell you how heavy and warm a piece will feel. Our hoodie GSM guide makes the numbers easy to read.
- Pick from the six colours. They are meant to mix, so a second piece will always match the first.
Made to order is not a gimmick or a slowdown for its own sake. It is the simplest way we know to make only what is wanted, keep the standard high and keep the range calm. Reserve a piece from the House of Originals.
FAQs
What does made to order mean?
It means the piece is made after you reserve it, not before. Nothing is produced ahead of time and left unsold. That is how we avoid deadstock and overproduction.
When will my made to order piece reach me?
Your piece is made for you once you reserve it, and shipping is free across India. If you need a piece for a particular date, reserve early so there is room to spare.
Is made to order clothing more expensive?
Not because of the method itself. Making only what is reserved removes the cost of unsold stock. The price of a piece reflects its fabric and making, and each product page states the fabric so you can compare.
Are all EKVAAR pieces made to order?
Yes, the range is made when you reserve it, and it is all made in India. A few pieces are made in especially small numbers, and the product page says so.
