Which one should you choose?

Choose the CORE Crew Tee at ₹749 if you want a dependable 180 GSM cotton tee you can own in several colours and rotate through the week. Choose the CORE Supima Tee at ₹999 if you want one premium tee in long-staple Supima cotton, made to feel smoother and hold its shape wash after wash.

The gap is ₹250. This post explains what that money buys, what it does not, and how to decide without guessing.

House Solids Solids

Both belong to Solids, the house for basics. Both are made in India, made for you once you Reserve. Neither is loud. They are two answers to the same question, and the difference is in the cloth.

What “long staple” means

Cotton is made of short fibres spun into yarn. The length of each fibre is called its staple. Longer fibres spun together give a yarn that is smoother, because fewer fibre ends stick out, and stronger, because there is more overlap holding it together. That is the basic reason long-staple cotton is considered a step up.

Supima is a trademarked name for a long-staple cotton grown in the United States, so when a product page says Supima it is pointing to that specific cotton. In practice, what you notice is usually a smoother surface, a slightly cooler and softer hand-feel, and a tee that resists going fuzzy or misshapen as it ages. Those are tendencies, not promises: how a tee behaves also depends on how it is knitted and how you wash it.

If you want the fuller explanation, we wrote a separate post on what Supima cotton is.

The CORE Crew Tee: the everyday choice

The CORE Crew Tee is a 180 GSM cotton crew tee in a unisex regular fit, mid-weight and soft from the first wear. At ₹749 it is the tee you buy in twos and threes. Currently it comes in Noor Black, Rui White and Agni Red.

180 GSM sits in the middle: it is not the thin, see-through kind, and it is not a heavy tee that feels hot in a Chennai afternoon. It works alone in the day, under a hoodie or shirt, and in the wash with everything else without special care.

The everyday choice is built for repetition. It is the tee for the third day in a row, the tee in the bag, the tee for errands and the tee you stop thinking about. That is a compliment. Basics should be forgettable in the best way.

The CORE Supima Tee: the one you notice

The CORE Supima Tee is a premium crew-neck tee in long-staple Supima cotton, described on its page as smooth, soft and made to hold its shape wash after wash. It costs ₹999 and comes in Neel Blue, Noor Black and Rui White.

You feel the difference most in the hand: the cloth is smoother against the skin and against your palm. You are most likely to notice the shape difference after months, when a tee that started well has begun to soften at the collar or twist at the seams. The CORE Supima is built to resist that.

Neel Blue is only available in the CORE Supima of the two. If you want a deep blue tee in Solids, that decides it on its own.

How to decide

  1. How many tees do you need? If it is five or more, the Crew Tee makes the budget stretch further. Five Crew Tees cost ₹3,745; five Supima Tees cost ₹4,995.
  2. How often will you wear this one? A tee worn twice a week for years gets far more use than one worn twice a month. The CORE Supima pays back best on the tee you wear most.
  3. What do you do in it? For hot commutes, gyms and travel, the Crew Tee is easy to replace and easy to wash. For dinners, meetings without a shirt, and days when you want to look considered, the CORE Supima has an edge.
  4. Which colour do you want? Agni Red is only on the Crew Tee. Neel Blue is only on the CORE Supima. Noor Black and Rui White are on both.

A sensible mix

You do not have to choose. A good plan for a week is three Crew Tees for rotation and one CORE Supima for the day you want to feel a little more put together. We cover how many tees a week really needs in this post, and the full CORE line in the CORE tee family guide.

If you are unsure between sizes, look at the Size guide link beside the size options on each product page for that piece’s own measurements, and choose the larger size if you are between two and like a looser drape.

A quick way to test it yourself

If you already own a tee you like, use it as your yardstick. Feel its cloth between finger and thumb, note how it hangs, and check the collar and hem for wear. Then compare that with what you want from the next one. If your favourite tee is the one that has stayed smooth and square over a year, the CORE Supima is the better bet. If your favourite is simply the one you can replace without a second thought, the Crew Tee is the better bet. Neither answer is wrong. It comes down to whether you value a slightly finer cloth or a slightly lower price per tee.

What we would not claim

Supima will not make a tee last forever, and a well-washed Crew Tee can last a long time. The difference is real but modest: a step in feel and in shape retention. If someone tells you a tee is life-changing, be sceptical. If the price gap matters to you, buy the Crew Tee and be happy with it.

Both tees ship free across India, and each CORE Supima or Crew Tee is made for you once you reserve it.
