How Many Tees Do You Need for a Week?

A simple way to size a tee rotation around laundry days, with sample racks built from CORE, DAILY and BASE Tees.

The short answer: days between washes, plus one

How many tees you need equals the days between your laundry loads, plus one spare. Wash weekly and you need eight. Wash twice a week and you need five. Wash every three days in a hot city and four is enough, if you wear each once. Your own laundry rhythm decides how many tees you need, not a rule.

People usually answer how many tees they need by guessing, or by counting what fits in a drawer. Both lead to too many tees you never wear and too few of the ones you love. A better way is to start from how often you wash, and work outward.

Step 1: find your laundry rhythm

Look at the last month and note how your washing actually happens, not how it should.

  • Once a week: a Sunday wash, common when clothes go to a building laundry or a machine is shared.
  • Twice a week: a mid-week and a weekend wash.
  • Every two or three days: small loads at home, common in hot cities.

Now count how many tees you wear between loads. A tee worn once and then dropped in the basket counts as one. A tee you can wear a second time before washing, in cooler weather, counts as half.

Step 2: how many tees, in numbers

Laundry rhythm Tees worn once Add a spare Total
Once a week 7 +1 8
Twice a week 4 +1 5
Every 3 days 3 +1 4
Wear twice, wash weekly (cool weather) 4 +1 5

The spare covers a spill, a rainy day, a delayed wash or an unplanned event. It also lets each tee rest between wears, and rest slows wear. If you are building a broader wardrobe around the same idea, the wardrobe budget planner shows how to spread spend across categories.

Step 3: adjust for your week

Hot and humid weeks

Sweat means one wear per tee. Use the “worn once” column and add one more spare. If you commute in Mumbai or Chennai, this is the row you are on.

Office weeks

A tee under an overshirt or jacket works harder. Count these as one wear each, and keep at least two tees that look sharp enough for a meeting room.

Work-from-home weeks

You can stretch to a second wear on cooler days. Cut how many tees you need by one or two.

Gym weeks

Do not count gym tees in how many tees you need. They are a separate small stack, washed after every session.

Step 4: pick the right three tees

Once you know how many tees you need, fill the number with a small mix rather than eight of one. Three types of T-shirt cover almost every week.

The workhorse: CORE Crew Tee

The CORE Crew Tee is a 180 GSM cotton crew in a unisex regular fit, mid-weight and soft from the first wear. It is ₹749 and comes in Noor Black, Rui White and Agni Red. This is the tee for days when you want to look put together. Its weight lets it sit well alone or under a layer.

The everyday: DAILY Tee

The DAILY Tee is the everyday tee, kept simple: a light, soft crew neck that goes with everything. At ₹649 it is the lightest on the wallet and the lightest on the body, and it comes in Rui White, Noor Black, Neel Blue and Agni Red. It is a good candidate for the hot weeks, when a lighter feel matters more than structure.

The base: BASE Crew Tee

The BASE Crew Tee is a cotton crew neck in a clean regular fit, made for the days you do not want to think about it. It costs ₹699 and comes in Rui White and Noor Black. It is the tee you put under a hoodie or overshirt without a second thought.

If you are unsure how these three differ, the CORE tee family guide explains the range in more detail.

How many tees in practice: three sample racks

Five tees, twice-weekly wash

  • 2 CORE Crew Tees: Noor Black, Rui White
  • 2 DAILY Tees: Neel Blue, Agni Red
  • 1 BASE Crew Tee: Rui White

Total: ₹749 x 2 + ₹649 x 2 + ₹699 = ₹3,495.

Eight tees, weekly wash

  • 3 CORE Crew Tees: Noor Black, Rui White, Agni Red
  • 3 DAILY Tees: Rui White, Noor Black, Neel Blue
  • 2 BASE Crew Tees: Rui White, Noor Black

Total: ₹2,247 + ₹1,947 + ₹1,398 = ₹5,592.

Four tees, every-three-day wash

  • 2 DAILY Tees: Rui White, Noor Black
  • 1 CORE Crew Tee: Noor Black
  • 1 BASE Crew Tee: Rui White

Total: ₹1,298 + ₹749 + ₹699 = ₹2,746.

How to keep the rotation honest

  1. Rotate from the bottom. Put clean tees at the bottom of the stack, and take from the top. Every tee then gets equal wear.
  2. Retire one when a new one arrives. The number stays constant, and the drawer never overflows.
  3. Mark the white ones. White tees age fastest. See how to keep white tees white.
  4. Do one audit a season. Count how many tees you have, note the ones you never wear, and let go of them.

Signs your number is wrong

  • You wear the same two tees all week. The rest are surplus. Give them away or move them to a weekend stack.
  • You run out by Thursday. Either add a tee or move your wash day earlier. The second option is free.
  • Tees stay in the laundry basket for days. The spare is too small, or the wash rhythm is too slow for your climate.
  • Half the drawer is untouched. Choose colours you wear, not colours you admire on other people.

Adjust how many tees you keep once, watch for a month, and adjust again. A rotation is a habit more than a purchase.

A note on fit

A tee you like wearing is worn more often, which lowers how many tees you need. Each product page has a Size guide next to the size options, with that piece’s own measurements. If you are between sizes, go by whether you want a closer or looser line.

FAQs

How many t-shirts do I need for a week?

To work out how many tees you need, count the days between your laundry loads and add one spare. If you wash once a week and wear each tee once, that is eight. If you wash twice a week, it is about five.

Which colours should I pick for a small tee rotation?

Start with Rui White and Noor Black, which work with everything. Add Neel Blue or Agni Red once the base is in place. The CORE Crew Tee is offered in Noor Black, Rui White and Agni Red.

What is the difference between CORE, DAILY and BASE tees?

CORE is a 180 GSM cotton crew in a unisex regular fit. DAILY is a lighter, softer everyday crew. BASE is a cotton crew in a clean regular fit for days you do not want to think about it.

Should gym tees count in the number?

No. Keep gym tees as a separate small stack that you wash after each session, so they do not use up your everyday rotation.
