What each EKVAAR house is for, with one real piece from each: Solids, Layers, Street, Luxe and Origins.

What the five houses are, in one paragraph

EKVAAR is one House of Originals divided into five houses so that you can find what you need fast. Solids is plain, everyday clothing. Layers adds one quiet detail to a plain piece. Street is bold graphics and heavier attitude. Luxe is fewer pieces in richer fabric. Origins is accessories. Every piece is made to order in India, which means it is made after you reserve it.

If you are wondering why a brand needs five houses, think of a shop with sections. You would not look for a cap in the same place as a sweatshirt. The houses work the same way, except each one also has a point of view. Here is each of the five houses, what it is for, and one piece that shows it.

Solids: the base of everything

Of the five houses, Solids is where most people should start. It is plain, dependable clothing in our six permanent colours: Noor Black, Rui White, Agni Red, Neel Blue, Arav Green and Gulabi Pink. No loud graphics, no surprises, just cut, fabric and colour done properly.

The CORE Crew Tee (₹749) is the clearest example. It is a 180 GSM cotton crew tee in a unisex regular fit, mid-weight and soft from the first wear. Right now it is offered in Noor Black, Rui White and Agni Red. It is the tee you put on when you do not want to think about what you are wearing. We wrote a full note on what Solids means if you want the longer story.

Use Solids for: work, college, travel, weekends, and as the base under anything from another house.

Layers: one detail, nothing more

Layers takes a plain silhouette and adds a single thing you notice on the second look. It is for people who like clean clothes but want a small signal that the piece is theirs.

The AARU Oversized Tee (₹999) shows the idea. Aaru is Kannada for six. A small woven band on the left sleeve carries our house colours and ends in six knotted threads. From the front it looks like a quiet tee. The detail is on the sleeve, where you find it when you look. It comes in Rui White and Gulabi Pink. Our note on the Kannada word for six explains the meaning behind it.

Use Layers for: days when you want a plain outfit that still has something to say.

Street: graphics with a point of view

Street is the louder house. It is where graphics, grids and heavier cuts live. It is for people who wear a piece to be seen wearing it.

The Kaal Grid Oversized Tee (₹699) is a good example. It is an oversized tee in 240 GSM micro-knit polyester, with a folded neck and an all-over EKVAAR glyph grid. The pattern covers the whole tee instead of sitting as a small print on the chest. Its colours are shown on the product page, and they are not part of the six permanent Solids colours. Our post on the Kaal Grid design goes into it.

Use Street for: college, concerts, weekends and outfits built around one bold piece.

Luxe: fewer pieces, richer fabric

Luxe is the smallest of the five houses on purpose. Pieces here use heavier or more textured fabric and finish it with restraint. The point is not decoration. It is how the cloth feels when you wear it.

The ESSENCE Terry Tee (₹2,099) shows it. It is a 260 GSM terry tee in 90% cotton, cut oversized with drop shoulders and finished with a quiet EKVAAR embroidery. It comes in Rui White. It is a tee, so you can wear it anywhere, but the terry gives it a weight and a surface that a plain jersey tee does not have. There is more in what Luxe means.

Use Luxe for: the days you want to feel a little dressed even in a tee.

Origins: the accessories house

Origins is where caps, stoles, notebooks and a bottle live. These are small pieces that finish an outfit or a desk. They are also the easiest way to try the brand, since the prices are lower. Our Origins under ₹600 post lists what is available at that price.

Use Origins for: adding a finishing touch, gifting, or a first order.

What all five houses share

The five houses differ in style, but the rules underneath are the same. Every piece is made to order in India, so nothing is made in bulk and left waiting. Every piece uses our six permanent colours wherever colour is offered. And every piece is designed to be worn for years, not for one season. Shipping is free across India.

Where each house sits in a day

Try the five houses against a normal day. Morning: a Solids tee and joggers, because you do not want to decide anything. Work: a Solids or Layers piece that looks tidy. Evening: a Luxe tee, or a Street piece if you are going out with friends. Anything you carry or wear on top, such as a cap or stole, comes from Origins. Seen this way, the five houses are not separate wardrobes. They are five kinds of decision you make while getting dressed.

How the five houses fit together

A quick way to see the range is by how loud each house is.

  1. Solids: quietest. The base.
  2. Origins: small accents. A cap or stole on top of the base.
  3. Luxe: quiet, but richer in fabric.
  4. Layers: a small detail you have to look for.
  5. Street: loudest. The piece the outfit is built around.

That order changes how you shop. Most outfits need one piece from the louder end and the rest from the quiet end. A Street tee over Solids joggers works. A Street tee with a Street cap and a Street bag is too much. Solids makes everything around it easier.

What made to order means for you

Every piece across the five houses is made after you reserve it, in India, a build-to-order way of working. That is why there is no stock sitting in a warehouse and no piece made in a size nobody wanted. It also means you can choose your colour and size once, with care, and then wait for a piece made for you. Shipping is free across India.

A simple way to choose between the five houses

  • Building a wardrobe from zero: start with two or three Solids tees and add one Layers or Luxe piece.
  • Already own plain basics: add one Street or Layers piece to break the pattern.
  • Shopping for a gift: pick an Origins piece, or a Solids tee in a colour you know they wear.
  • Want something that feels different in the hand: try Luxe.

Whichever house you pick, the six permanent colours stay the same, so pieces from different houses still work together.

FAQs

How many houses does EKVAAR have?

Five: Solids, Layers, Street, Luxe and Origins. Each one covers a different kind of piece, so together they cover a full wardrobe.

Which house should I start with?

Start with Solids. It holds the plain everyday pieces in our six permanent colours, and they are the easiest to combine with anything you own.

Are the five houses different brands?

No. They are five parts of one house, the House of Originals. The label tells you what kind of piece you are buying, not which company made it.

Are Origins products clothes?

Origins is our accessories house: caps, stoles, notebooks and a bottle. They are made to order in India like the rest of the range.
