Chowka means a square in Kannada. The CHOWKA tee is built from that one shape: a small counted check, drawn new for EKVAAR, Neel Blue on Rui White. The squares are close enough that from across a room the tee reads as a woven cloth, and only up close do you see the individual lines. Its line is “The small check, made for work,” because it looks as at home under a blazer as it does with denim.
A check is one of the oldest patterns in cloth, made by crossing lines at regular intervals. The CHOWKA tee uses a small, counted version, printed all over and edge to edge, so the pattern runs uninterrupted across the front, back and sleeves. It is drawn as a print rather than woven, which keeps the tee light and smooth. It belongs to the Layers house of the EKVAAR House of Originals.
The CHOWKA tee is made from 100% spun polyester at 180 GSM. Spun polyester has a soft, cotton-like hand and holds an all-over print very cleanly, so the fine check stays sharp. At 180 GSM it is light enough for warm days, which makes it an easy choice for a long workday.
