The short answer
If you sit between sizes in an oversized tee, decide on the shape you want first, then measure a tee you already own and compare it with the size guide on the product page. Go smaller for a cleaner line and larger for more drop. Both are correct, so choose the one that matches how you wear it.
This post gives you a simple five-step method for when you are between sizes. It works for the three oversized tees below and for most others.
Why being between sizes is harder in oversized tees
A regular tee has one right size and you know it when you see it. An oversized tee has a range of sizes that all look intentional. That is why the question “which one is right” is really “which shape do I prefer”.
The three tees we use as examples each have a different personality.
- The AARU Oversized Tee at ₹999 is a Layers piece with a woven six-thread band on the left sleeve.
- The HOSTILU Oversized Tee at ₹1,299 is a Street piece that carries a single-line pulli kolam, small on the chest and full across the back.
- The NAKED Dot Oversized Tee at ₹799 is a Layers piece in 220-240 GSM cotton, finished with a single embroidered dot.

The five-step method
Step 1: Decide the look
Write down one word. “Clean” means you want the tee to skim you, and you will lean towards the smaller size. “Relaxed” or “boxy” means you want space, and you will lean towards the larger one. If you cannot decide, imagine the tee with a pair of straight trousers and ask which reads better.
Step 2: Find a tee that already fits you
Take one tee from your cupboard that you like the fit of. Lay it flat on a bed or table.
Step 3: Measure it
Measure across the chest, about an inch below the armhole, and from the highest point of the shoulder to the hem. Write both down. Do not use a measurement from memory, and do not measure yourself in a way that differs from how the size guide is measured.
Step 4: Open the Size guide on the product page
Beside the size options on each product page there is a Size guide link. It lists that piece’s own measurements. When you are between sizes, compare your two numbers against both of them. You will usually see one size closer on the chest and one closer on length.
Step 5: Let the priority decide
Choose the size that matches your priority. If the chest matters most to you, follow the chest number. If length matters most, follow the length. If both are close, the tie-break is the look you chose in step 1.
If you are still stuck between sizes
Use these tie-breakers in order.
- How will you wear it? Tucked in or worn with a jacket over it points to the smaller size. Worn loose and long over shorts or jeans points to the larger size.
- What is underneath? If you plan to put a shirt or hoodie over the tee, a slightly smaller tee keeps the layers tidy. If it is the top layer, go larger.
- What does the print need? A design on the chest or back reads best when it has some room. The HOSTILU has a full kolam across the back, and that drawing looks best on a shape with enough back width to show it.
- What is the fabric like? Heavier cotton hangs, so the larger size will drop lower. A lighter fabric will drape more.
Between sizes, piece by piece
AARU Oversized Tee
The detail is on the left sleeve, so the sleeve length and the shoulder line matter more than on a chest-print tee. If you are between sizes, look at how the size guide describes the shoulder and sleeve and choose the one where the band will sit where you want it. It is offered in Rui White and Gulabi Pink.

HOSTILU Oversized Tee
The kolam is the whole point of this tee, and it lives on the chest and back. A little extra back width shows the full drawing. If you are between sizes and you love the back design, lean larger. It is offered in Noor Black.

NAKED Dot Oversized Tee
This is the plainest of the three, with one embroidered dot. Because there is no large design to frame, if you are between sizes you can go by feel alone, and the choice really is a matter of taste. It is offered in Noor Black and Rui White.
| Piece | Price | Lean smaller if | Lean larger if |
|---|---|---|---|
| AARU Oversized Tee | ₹999 | You want the sleeve band snug | You want a looser sleeve and drop |
| HOSTILU Oversized Tee | ₹1,299 | You want a neat chest kolam | You want the back kolam to spread |
| NAKED Dot Oversized Tee | ₹799 | You will layer over it | You wear it alone and long |
Common mistakes
- Choosing by height alone. Two people of the same height can have very different shoulders and chest. Our oversized fit guide by height and weight gives general ranges, and the product size guide is more exact.
- Assuming your size never changes. Cut and fabric weight vary by piece, so check each one.
- Sizing for the hoodie you own. A tee and a hoodie are cut differently, so a hoodie size does not carry across.
- Buying two sizes to compare. When you are between sizes, it is not needed if you measure a tee first.
If you want more on the fit itself, read how to choose an oversized tee.
A note on what we can and cannot tell you
We do not quote a single chart for all pieces, because there is no single chart that is true for all pieces. The Size guide on each page is the source we trust for that piece, so start there and use this post to make the final call when you are between sizes.
A worked example
Say you lay your favourite tee flat and it sits between sizes on the AARU tee’s Size guide. You want a relaxed look, and you plan to wear it alone with jeans. That points to the larger size. Now say you plan to wear the same tee under a shirt at work, and the sleeve band matters less because it will be covered. That points to the smaller size, which keeps the layers tidy.
Someone between sizes can reasonably choose different sizes for different tees. That is not inconsistent. It is the tee, and the way you plan to wear it, that decides.

FAQs
Should I size up or down in an oversized tee?
An oversized tee is cut to be loose, so many people stay with their usual size to keep the intended shape. If you sit between sizes, decide by the look you want, then check the size guide on the product page.
Where is the size guide?
Each product page has a Size guide link beside the size options. It shows that piece’s own measurements, so it is more reliable than a general chart.
Does the same size fit every EKVAAR tee the same way?
Not always. Each design has its own cut and fabric weight, so check the size guide for every piece instead of assuming your size carries across.
Will the tee look different if I choose the smaller size?
Usually it will look a little closer through the body and shorter, while the larger size gives more drop and length. Neither is wrong when you are between sizes; it is a matter of preference.
When you are ready, see the full range and reserve the piece that suits you.
